David Price Injury: Tampa Hurler Set For Friday Start

David Price is set to start Friday for the Tampa Bay Rays, when the Rays open up a weekend series against the New York Yankees.

Price threw a bullpen session on Tuesday, and felt well enough to declare himself ready to make the Friday start.

"I felt good today,'' Price said. "I felt very good. IT was a a good step forward today. We should be good to go.''

Price skipped his Saturday start due to what was described as "general soreness" in his shoulder. He said the Rays still don't know the cause, but is confident whatever it was, "I feel like it's gone now.''

Price is certainly in the Cy Young conversation, as he's the owner of a 17-5 record, with a 2.54 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. Price has struck out 175 in 180 and 2/3 innings, while holding opposing hitters to a .225 average.

If the Rays are going to return to the postseason in 2012, they'll likely need Price to be taking the mound every fifth day -- and it looks like he'll be doing just that, starting on Friday.
