2012 MLB Standings: Rays Lose Ground After Getting Swept

The Tampa Bay Rays suffered a critical blow to their posteason chances when they were swept by the Baltimore Orioles this week. The O's are one of the teams they are chasing for the Wild Card and the division crown. The Rays fell to four games behind the Orioles and the New York Yankees in the AL East and for the last playoff spot.

The Yankees and Orioles are currently tied for the division lead, as well as the Wild Card. Both would advance to the postseason, with a tiebreaker game to be played to determine the AL East champion.

The Rays have plenty of work ahead to get themselves in the mix, as they have four games to make up with just 19 left to play. The good news is that they will have a shot at one of the teams ahead of them, as they start a three-game series with the Yankees on Friday night.
