Rays Vs. Red Sox Preview: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

The Tampa Bay Rays are in desperate need of a win against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night at Fenway Park.

Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox start a three-game set Tuesday night at Fenway Park with playoff hopes hanging in the balance.

The Red Sox are long out of the race of course, but Tampa Bay enters the contest within striking distance of the Oakland Athletics for the second wild card spot.

David Price will be seeking his 19th win of the season in what perhaps could become a Cy Young season for the dominant southpaw. Price saw the Red Sox in his last appearance and earned a no-decision, 7⅓ innings while allowing just three runs.

Clay Buchholz will oppose Price in search of his 12th victory. The youngster has been very good for Bobby Valentine's squad despite being surrounded by chaos. Buchholz was the hurler who matched up against Price on Sept. 20 in his last start, pitching seven shutout frames, but couldn't earn a win.

TV: Sun Sports

Time: 7:10 p.m. ET
