Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl 2012: Extra time off gives UCF different perspective

The time between the regular season and bowl game has given UCF plenty of time to prepare for their opponent in the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl, the Ball State Cardinals.

The time off between the end of the regular season and their bowl game has allowed the UCF staff extra time to review film of their upcoming opponent, the Ball St. Cardinals. The Knights and Cardinals will get together in the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl in St. Petersburg on Dec. 21, and the UCF staff will have reviewed an entire season's worth of Ball State film before then.

"I think that's been helpful," [offensive coordinator Charlie] Taaffe said. "The thing you have to be careful of when you have a little time off is not to try to reinvent football. But it is good to be able to really study their whole season from where they started to where they are now."

One thing UCF can't prepare for is which quarterback they'll be facing. Ball State's original starter, Keith Wenning, suffered a fracture in his ankle on Nov. 14 against Ohio, but he may be able to play if his recovery continues to go well. Wenning's backup, Kelly Page, is also hurt, and is recovering from a concussion.

The Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl will kick of at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, and can be seen nationally on ESPN. The Knights are currently listed as 7.5 point favorites, according to Oddsshark.com.
