South Florida Bulls guard Musa Abdul-Aleem will miss four-to-six weeks because of a lingering foot injury, according to head coach Stan Heath. Abdul-Aleem missed all of last season with a broken metatarsal in his foot and that injury did not heal properly, so he'll have to rest until the foot is no longer an issue.
"The doctors say he needs to take a little time and let it heal up, so that's what we're going to do. They want to take some pressure off his foot," Heath said. Abdul-Aleem is wearing a boot to aid his recovery and should be back midway through the Bulls' non-conference schedule.
He began his college career at Georgia Perimeter College and committed to USF last September. He had offers from Memphis, Georgetown and Gonzaga, among others. During his final season at Georgia Perimeter College, he averaged 14.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
South Florida begins its 2012-13 season against Central Florida on Nov. 10.
