Big East Football Standings 2012: Louisville and Rutgers will square off for conference title

A de facto conference championship game will take place on Thursday between the Cardinals and Scarlet Knights.

The Big East title and the automatic bid to a BCS bowl is still up for grabs as we head toward college football's final weekend of the regular season, and despite the conference lacking an official conference title game, Thursday night's meeting between the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Louisville Cardinals will act as a de facto Big East title game.

Rutgers or Louisville will leave Thursday night's showdown all but assured of the conference's automatic bid. If the Scarlet Knights are victorious, they will claim the conference's title outright. If Louisville can top Rutgers at home, they will likely claim the conference's tiebreaker and head off to the BCS.

The South Florida Bulls, trying to avoid finishing last in the Big East take on a Pittsburgh Panthers team aiming for bowl eligibility during the season's final weekend.
