The South Florida Bulls will try to finish the 2012 season on a high note as they host the Pittsburgh Panthers in their season finale on Saturday, Dec. 1. Pitt will be looking to earn a bowl berth with a victory.
After opening with victories over Chattanooga and the Nevada Wolfpack, the Bulls suffered six straight defeats. Since beating the Connecticut Huskies, 13-6, on Nov. 3, the Bulls have lost their last two games. At 1-5 in conference play and 3-8 overall, USF currently sits in the Big East cellar, but a win over Pitt could change that positioning.
Pitt will enter Saturday's contest highly motivated to pick up its sixth win of the season and become bowl eligible. The Panthers are only 2-4 in conference play, but at 5-6 overall, a win against USF would put them in the postseason conversation.
Despite the sub-.500 record, the Panthers come into the season finale on a positive note as they beat the No. 18 Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 27-6, on Nov. 24. It was the second win over a ranked team this season for the Panthers.
Game time: Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
TV coverage: The game is being broadcast nationally on ESPN2 as well as streamed online with Watch ESPN.
Odds: USF is a six-point home underdog to Pitt. The over/under was initially set at 45 total points.
